Once added to a system such as a cooling tower, it allows operators to trace, track and monitor the concentration and optimise the dosage of water-soluble polymers (such as flocculants, rust and corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, dispersants or even residual phosphate) in real time, using fluorescence detection by a fluorometer.
It does not require deep UV light; a near-visible wavelength range (>370 nm) is enough for detection, which reduces interference from other chemicals.
